National Writers' Conference 2018
On June 23 and 24, Australia’s largest gathering of emerging writers returns to the State Library of Victoria. A perfect mix of emerging and established speakers, this two-day conference covers craft, industry insights and networking for writers of all genres and forms.
This year's National Writers' Conference will see an expanded program of over 70 artists across two days of panels, discussions, workshops and new opportunities for networking with industry peers and professionals.
Meet the 2018 Ambassadors
Each year, EWF invites five Ambassadors to participate in the National Writers’ Conference to share their experience, insight and knowledge with the next generation of writers. Each ambassador will spend an hour answering questions and offering advice in EWF’s unique Ask Me Anything sessions.
In 2018 ambassadors are Melissa Lucashenko (Mullumbimby, Steam Pigs); Isobelle Carmody (Obernewtyn Chronicles, Legendsong); Ellen Van Neerven (Heat and Light, Comfort Food); Michael Mohammed Ahmad (The Lebs, The Tribe) and Stuart Grant (Monash University lecturer in theatre and performance)
This year’s festival ambassadors are known for their experimental works, transcending boundaries of form and defying easy categorisation.
“Our ambassadors are captivating storytellers, noted for challenging dominant narratives, bringing light to untold stories and forging new pathways for the next generation of Australian voices. We’re delighted to have them part of this year’s festival.” says Emerging Writers’ Festival (EWF) Artistic Director Izzy Roberts-Orr.
We are thrilled at the prospect of spending a weekend in the company of these five brilliant minds.
The Emerging Writers' Festival Ambassador program is proudly supported by our Principal Education Partner, Monash University.
